【周五短文课】一样的意思，不一样的表达！不是作文课的作文课！

短文是学习英语的一大利器。一篇短文，当中包含了数十个乃至数百个单词，有几十个句子，几乎包含了英语中所有发音，并用到大量的句法结构。掌握一篇短文，就可以帮我们掌握这么多的财富！短文掌握得多，不但可以增加你的词汇量、句子量，还可以帮助你提升语感、改善写作技巧！

星期五，让我们来上一节短文课吧。

我们先来看一个简单的版本：

Jane went to bed. It was eleven o'clock. She turned out the light. She lay in bed. It was dark. It was quiet. She couldn't sleep. She closed her eyes. She tried to sleep, but she couldn't. She turned the light back on. She opened her book. She started to read her book. It was a good book. She read one page. Then she read another page. After a while, she felt sleepy. She closed the book. She turned out the light. She closed her eyes. She went straight to sleep.

这个版本用的都是简单句，如果一直说简单句，可能会较乏味。我们可以通过句法结构的变换（简单句变成并列句或复合句）， 把它改成一篇更复杂一些的：

Jane went to bed when it was eleven o'clock. She turned out the light and lay in bed. It was dark and quiet. However, she couldn't sleep. She closed her eyes and tried to sleep, but she couldn't. She turned the light back on. She opened her book and started to read her book. It was a good book. So she read one page, and then another. After a while, she felt sleepy. She closed the book and turned out the light again. She closed her eyes. This time, she went straight to sleep.

feel sleepy – felt sleepy

close the book – closed the book

go straight to sleep – went straight to sleep
