go to sleep 上床睡觉 （有意为之的行为）

fall asleep 睡着（无意中睡着）

get to sleep 睡着（有意识）

He didn't want to go to sleep. 他不想上床睡觉。

The doctors fell asleep in the operating theatre. 医生在手术室睡着了。

Her mother coughed all night and couldn't get to sleep. 她的妈妈咳嗽了一晚上，无法入睡。

help sb out 帮忙某人做事；借钱给某人

come to 总共；共计

He is in trouble. Let's do something to help him out. 他有麻烦，让我们帮他做点事。

All these presents came to more money than I had, and my mother had to help me out. 我的钱不够买这些礼物，我妈妈只好借了我一些钱。

get over =overcome 克服，战胜（问题、困难）

We can get over our shyness by trying new things and practicing conversation.  我们可以通过尝试新事物和练习谈话来克服害羞。

beat 打败；战胜

win 获胜；赢得

Our team beat their team by 5:4. We won the match. 我们队以 5 : 4 的比分战胜了他们队。我们赢得了比赛。

Our school has won the football match,  2:1 against No. 3 Middle School. 我们学校以 2:1 的比分战胜三中赢得了足球比赛。

take down 取下；拆毁

get in one's way 妨碍

Because it might encourage teenagers to try smoking, Sina Weibo took down the "smoking emoji". 因为可能鼓励青少年尝试抽烟，新浪微博去掉了抽烟的表情符号。

They put up the bird table, but it got in everyone else's way so John tried to take it down. 他们支起食鸟台，可是人人都嫌它碍事，所以约翰想把它拆了。

cut in on sb  =cut sb off 打断；插嘴

I'm sorry to cut in on you, but there are one or two things I don't understand. 很抱歉打断你，但是有一两件事我不明白。

Eric cut in on Mary's attempts at reassurance. 玛丽刚要作保证，艾瑞克就把她打断了。

Clark cut him off. 'Don't argue with me.' 克拉克打断他说：'别跟我争辩。'

cut off 切断；中断

shut down （公司等）关闭

His company is preparing to shut down in the event that their water supply is cut off. 假如供水被切断，他所在的公司就准备关闭。

cut out 取消；删除

Maybe I could cut out a few of their activities, but I believe these activities are important for my children's future. 也许我可以取消他们的活动中的几个，但是我认为这些活动对我的孩子们的未来很重要。

He cut out much of the repetition. 他删除了许多重复的内容。
