Greetings on Minor Cold | Let's Bundle Up!

今日小寒,愿君长安

Minor Cold, known in Chinese as Xiao Han, is the penultimate solar term among the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunar calendar.

As can be told from the literal meaning of the solar term, this represents a period when snow is expected in parts of the country. In most years, this solar term also marks the start of the coldest time of the year.

Minor Cold also represents the fact that the most important festival for Chinese people will be coming soon! The Spring Festival, usually held in either January or February depending on the lunar calendar of that year, is approaching. Usually, this time of the year, Chinese families would start their preparation for this festival, such as purchasing New Year goods.

Although Minor Cold is going to signal a period of cold weather, it also signals the upcoming arrival of Spring! Quoting Percy Bysshe Shelly, 'If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?' Although the next few weeks are going to be cold, the weather will soon become warm once more in no time!

As always, stay safe, and enjoy the refreshing cool breeze of this season!
