Lesson 85 Paris in the Spring

Hello, Ken.

Hi, George.

Have you just been to the cinema?

Yes, I have.

What's on?

“Paris in the Spring”.

Oh, I've already seen it. I saw it on television last year. It's an old film, but it's very good.

Paris is a beautiful city.

I have never been there. Have you ever been there, Ken?

Yes, I have. I was there in April.

Paris in the spring, eh?

It was spring, but the weather was awful. It rained all the time.

Just like London!

beautiful

【源】

形成于十五世纪中期,源自beauty,意思是“pleasing to the eye (or ear) or mind or soul”。

【音】

['bjuːtɪfl]

She is, as it were, the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. The weather has been beautiful this week. He produced his beautiful treatment of irrational numbers.

beautiful, good-looking, handsome, pretty

She is not really beautiful, but she looks pretty when she smiles. Some girls are good-looking; a few, but very few, are beautiful. Would you describe that woman as handsome or beautiful?
