半山翡翠半山烟，

泉水新茶待客端。

杜宇声声催谷雨，

牡丹夜夜带星眠。

Tea is cooked for guests coming from afar.

Spring sweeps the cloud up into a mound,

Hills in the rain turn green all around.

Petals fall on the ground. Who’d pick them up?

Cuckoos fly and frogs in rice fields bound.

谷雨 Grain Rain

太阳处在黄经30°至45° 时为谷雨，尤指太阳处在黄经30° 当天。谷雨经常开始于公历4月20日，结束于5月5日。

每个节气分为三候，即初候，次候和末候。谷雨三候包括：

一候萍始生；二候呜鸠拂其羽；三候戴任降于桑。

It begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 30° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 45°. It more often refers in particular to the day when the Sun is exactly at the celestial longitude of 30°. In the Gregorian calendar, it usually begins around April 20 and ends around May 5.

Each solar term can be divided into 3 pentads (候). They are: the first pentad (初候), the second pentad (次候) and the last pentad (末候). Pentads in Grain Rain include:

First pentad: Duckweed begins to sprout;

Second pentad: Nahath shakes off wings;

Last pentad: Cuckoo perches in mulberry trees.
