咏淮北

老龙脊^[1]上碧云长，

遥望濉河^[2]柳几行。

八九渔翁摇桨橹，

两三村妪采槐桑。

松枝斜逸十八庙^[3]，

竹露轻敲七子^[4]章。

且任清风归远客，

相城^[5]一顾不恓惶。

注释：

[1]龙脊山又称老龙脊、龙背墙，位于安徽省淮北烈山镇与宿州符离镇交界处，为淮北海拔之最。

[2]濉河，淮河支流，洪泽湖水系，为淮北市母亲河。

[3]淮北有两庵四寺、九阁十八庙、二堂对两馆、二十景地醒四泉等著名景点，诗中提到的十八庙是其中之一。

[4]竹林七贤指魏正始年间(240-249)，嵇康、阮籍、山涛、向秀、刘伶、王戎及阮咸七人。其中嵇康是谯国铚县(今安徽省濉溪县，为淮北市所辖)人。据陈寅恪先生考，西晋末年，比附内典，外书的“格义”风气盛行，东晋初年，乃取天竺“竹林”之名，加于“七贤”之上，成为“竹林七贤”。诗中作者想象七贤聚于竹林，共赏诗句。

[5]“相城”为淮北市古称。

Ode to Huaibei

Tr. Wu Haohao

Around Mount Longji clouds stroll 'n stroll,

By River Sui the willows roll.

The boatmen take their boats to leave,

The village women pull flax t’ weave.

Pine twigs green, over temples they lean,

Dews clean, on poems^[1] they are seen.

Oh, soft breezes! Will you take me home?

Huaibei is glorious neath the dome.

Note:

It refers to the poems composed by the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove (also known as the Seven Worthies of the Bamboo Grove (竹林七贤). They were a group of Chinese scholars, writers, and musicians of the 3rd century CE.
