在传统语法书上，经常有类似于下方的表述和实例：

如果分别指两个人，要分别用冠词，如：

A singer and a dancer are visiting our school tomorrow.

如果指同一个人，则只用一个冠词，如：

A singer and dancer is visiting our school tomorrow.

但是，事实上，指一个人的时候，在不引起歧义的情况下，两个用法都是有可能的，即都是可以的。一些鲜活的例子：

例1：The double duty job of being a mother and a teacher is something that someone cannot even come to comprehend until they have experienced it themselves.

例2：Challenges of Being a Mother and Teacher During Pandemic.

例3：A Mother and Teacher of 30 Years Shares Her Best Parenting Lessons to Raise Happy, Healthy, Responsible, and Successful Children From A to Z

如果用both ... and...的结构，则两者都需要用冠词。

例4：If you want to teach in elementary school, or in high school, then it's exceptionally unlikely that you will be able to be both a doctor and a teacher.
