咏莆田

笔架山高不见云，
木兰跌宕有仙音。
风吹九鲤悬珠泻，
雨打三清宿柳新。
几点白帆归浪子，
一湾碧水洗尘心。
曦浮妈祖观潮处，
散落桃花数屿春。

Ode to Putian
Tr. Wu Haohao
Mount Penholder towers high above the cloud,
From Magnolia River fairy lyre's heard.
O’er the Nine-Carp Lake, water splashes around.
Willows sway by the temple, rain drops 'n the dirt.
Ships carry homesick sons back t’ the islet.
The tides ebb and flow, soothing a weary heart.
In Matsu’s glory the land is up lit;
With peach blossoms it is a piece of art.
莆田
莆田是福建省东部的地级市，北接福州，南临泉州，东望台湾海峡星海湾。木兰溪横贯该市南部。莆仙话为该地区主要方言。莆田是福建省的主要出口基地，其主要产业有制鞋业、酿造业、电子工业、服装业、果蔬业、机械业等等。旅游业发展迅速，以妈祖诞生地——湄洲湾旅游最为有名。
About Putian
Putian is a prefecture-level city in eastern Fujian province, China. It borders Fuzhou City to the north, Quanzhou City to the south, and the Taiwan Strait's Xinghai Bay to the east. The Mulan River flows through the southern part of the city. Puxian Min is the largest dialect spoken in Putian. It has become an export base for Fujian products. The main industries are shoe-making, brewing, electronics, garments, fruits, vegetables, and machinery, etc. Tourism is booming in Putian. MeizhouIsland, most famous for being the legendary birthplace of the goddess Matsu, receives millions of tourists per year.
