咏淮南
（中华新韵）

八公[1]欲驾赤乌[2]游，
十涧[3]清波天尽头。
几处河湾知禹[4]迹，
一堤石垒忆玄[5]谋。
春来雨洗王歇[6]墓，
秋去风盈澹静[7]楼。
昔日煤烟城阙暖，
而今电火向东流[8]。
注释：
[1]此处指八公山。
[2] 古代汉族传说中的瑞鸟。
[3]此处指十涧湖。
[4]姒姓夏后氏，名文命，字高密，号禹，后世尊称大禹。相传禹在此治水。
[5]谢玄(343年-388年)，字幼度。陈郡阳夏(今河南太康)人，东晋时期军事家。太元八年(383年)，在淝水（今安徽淮南市寿县瓦埠湖一带）之战中，任前锋都督，取得以少胜多的巨大战果。
[6] 春申君（前314～前238），嬴姓，黄氏，名歇，东周战国时期楚国公室大臣，著名的政治家、军事家。与魏国信陵君魏无忌、赵国平原君赵胜、齐国孟尝君田文并称为“战国四公子”。楚考烈王元年（前262），以黄歇为相，封为春申君，赐淮北地12县。春申君陵园位于淮南市谢家集区李郢孜镇境内。
[7] “澹静老人”为孙家鼐号，其号还有蛰生、容卿。孙家鼐(1827-1909)，字燮臣，安徽寿州(今安徽淮南市寿县)人。清咸丰九年状元，与翁同龢同为光绪帝师。累迁内阁学士，历任工部侍，署工部，礼部、户部、吏部、刑部尚书。1898年7月3日以吏部尚书、协办大学士受命为京师大学堂(今北京大学)首任管理学务大臣，1900年后任文渊阁大学士、学务大臣等。卒后谥曰“文正”。
[8]淮南煤矿丰富，煤田远景储量444亿吨，探明储量180亿吨，占安徽省的70%，占华东地区的32%。早在明朝中叶，市境居民即开始土法采煤。
淮南电力工业是伴随煤炭工业的发展而兴起的，并逐步发展成为独立的工业门类。到2020年，将建成装机总容量将达到2000万千瓦时的火电基地。发电能力将超过长江三峡水电站。成为名副其实的“火电三峡”。
Ode to Huainan
Tr. Wu Haohao
Mount Eight-Sages looks up at the sky.
Lake Brooklets stirs its blue waves high.
The river bends knows Yu[1]’s great deeds,
The stone base to Xie[2]’s efforts heeds.
Lord Chunshen[3]’s Tomb hazes in spring rains,
Sun[4]’s house in autumn wind wanes.
An owner of coal field 'n coal ball
provides electric power for all.

[1]Yu the Great (c. 2200–2101 B.C.) was a legendary ruler in ancient China famed for his introduction of flood control, inaugurating dynastic rule in China by founding the Xia Dynasty, and for his upright moralcharacter.
[2]Xie Xuan (343–388), courtesy name Youdu, formally Duke Xianwu of Kangle, was a Jin Dynasty (265-420) general who is best known for repelling the Former Qin army at the Battle of Fei River, preventing the Former Qin emperor Fu Jian from destroying Jin and uniting China.
[3]Lord Chunshen (314 B.C.–238 B.C.), born Huang Xie, was a nobleman, general, and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Chu during the late Warring States period of ancient China. He was one of the Four Lords of the Warring States.
[4]Sun Jianai(1827–1909) was born in the county of Shou (literally longevity), Huainan city. He was conferred Number One Scholar in the highest imperial examination during the reign of Emperor Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty.
