在《新概念英语》经典版第二册第78课的难点部分，出现了有关keep引导的短语用法，今天就来跟大家做个梳理分享。

一、教材中的短语

（一）keep on

该短语表示“继续；坚持”。如：

You'll soon go to pieces if you keep on working like that. 如果你继续那样工作的话,很快就会垮下来。

They keep on running every morning . 他们保持每天早上跑步。

【注意】

有时也可以用keep at来表示“坚持；持续下去”。如：

If you keep at your work, you will finish it soon. 如果你坚持干下去，很快就会完成的。

I knew if I kept at it I should succeed. 我知道如果我坚持下去就会成功。

（二）keep off

该短语表示“不接近；避开”。如：

Don't walk across the lawn; keep off the grass. 不要通过草地，勿踩草地。

He decided to keep off alcohol after the accident. 发生那次事故後,他决定不再饮酒。

【注意】

有时也可以用keep away from来表达。如：

Keep away from that house. They have scarlet fever. 不要接近那一家，他们在患猩红热。

Nobody can entirely keep away from this competitive world. 没有人能够完全远离这个竞争社会。

（三）keep up

该短语表示“保持；继续；跟上”。当表示“跟上”时，常后接介词with。如：

He can keep up until ten o'clock tonight. 今天晚上他能坚持到10点钟不睡。

I hope the fine weather will keep up. 我希望好天气继续下去。

I think it important that we keep up with the times. 我认为跟上时代是很重要的。

（四）keep out

该短语表示“不许入内；挡在外面”。当后接介词of时，表示“躲开；置身...之外”。如：

We have screens on our windows to keep out the flies. 我们窗户上有纱窗以挡苍蝇。

The rubber seal is designed to keep out all the moisture. 橡胶的密封垫是用以隔绝湿气的。

America must keep out of this war. 美国应该置身战争之外。

（五）keep in

该短语表示“抑制；闭门不出”。如：

She could scarcely keep in her indignation. 她愤怒得难以自持。

She was kept in for an hour for talking in class. 她因上课说话被罚留校一小时。

二、更多常用短语

（六）keep from

该短语表示“阻止；妨碍”。如：

I hope you will keep from doing anything rash. 我希望你不要做出任何鲁莽的事情来。

Meat is kept from falling away in cold storage. 肉放在冷藏库里以防腐烂。

（七）keep to

该短语表示“坚持；遵守”。如：

Keep to it. Don't stop till the job is finished. 坚持下去，一直到干完为止。

They keep to the custom of having their marriages only in May. 他们固守传统，只在五月举行婚礼。

（八）keep back

该短语表示“隐瞒；阻止；保留”。如：

She tried to keep back her tears. 她试图抑制住眼泪。

Barricades were erected to keep back the crowds. 设置了障碍以隔开人群。

We must keep back a reserve of food. 我们必须贮存一些食品。

（九）keep down

该短语表示“蹲下；抑制”。注意当表示“逃脱”时，常用作：get away with。如：

Keep down! You mustn't let anybody see you. 蹲下! 一定不要让人看见你。

I couldn't keep down my anger at that time. 当时我捺不住心头的怒火。
