1 open up the whole world to me 打开新世界

I'm really into reading because I believe that reading can be both entertaining and educational. Reading broadens my knowledge by opening up the whole world to me.  我很喜欢阅读，因为我觉得它既让人学到知识又有乐趣。读书能拓宽我的知识面，打开我的新世界。

2 think up new ideas 产生新的想法

While I'm reading, I can be visiting another country or a different time period, or travelling through space. I can find out how people solve problems or think up new ideas.当我在读书的时候，我可以看到另一个国家或者另一个时间维度，甚至穿越宇宙。我能知道别人怎么解决问题的，怎么有不同想法的。

3 genre 类型，流派

I really have an open mind towards books and what genre they are. 我对不同类别和流派的书呈开放的态度。

4 cultivate mental development 发展精神世界

Young children that I know tend to read fairy tales to cultivate mental development. 我知道的小孩一般会读一些神话故事来发展精神世界

5 improve linguistic skills 提升语言技能

Reading can help children improve linguistic skills in the form of a richer vocabulary, correct grammar and more articulate oral communication. 读书能帮助小孩提升语言技能，能有丰富的词汇量，正确的语法，和清晰的口头语。
