3.3 可用作可数名词的抽象名词

1.可用作复数的抽象名词

抽象名词通常是是可数的，但有一些抽象名词可以用作可数名词，不仅可以和不定冠词连用，而且有复数形式。例如：

Everybody thought that his lecture was a failure.

人人都认为他的报告是失败的。

结构分析：Everybody是主语，thought是谓语，that引导宾语从句，his lecture是主语，was a failure是系表型谓语（was是系动词，a failure是表语）。

He wasn’t discouraged in spite of his failures.

尽管多次失败，他并不馁。

结构分析：He是主语，wasn’t discouraged是谓语，in spite of his failures是状语。
