The Lake Has Swallowed The Whole Sky

Some dreams are like glass
or a light beneath the surface of the water.
A girl weeps in a garden.
A woman turns her head and that is all.
We wake up a hundred times and
don't know where we are. Asleep
at the wheel. Saved by
the luck of angels.
Everyone touching his lips
to something larger, the watermark
of some great sorrow. Everyone
giving himself away. The way
the rose gives up the stem and
floats completely, without history.
In the end every road leads
to water. What is left of a garden
is the dream, an alphabet of longing.
The shadow of the girl. Perfume.

梦是强大的。有时做梦的时候，会把自己的记忆忘却。记忆造就每个人，如果没有了记忆，就等于死亡，就像玫瑰放弃自己的茎，兀自飘在水面，没有历史。（Everyone/ giving himself away. The way/ the rose gives up the stem and/ floats completely, without history.）醒来时，也需要很大力气才能想起来自己是谁，自己在哪，恍若隔世（We wake up a hundred times and/ don't know where we are.）
湖，吞没了整个天空The Lake Has Swallowed The Whole Sky。在莫奈的画中，很好理解。倒影比真实的事物更加难画，光，影，水波，还有水神奇的质地，让倒影呈现出朦胧别致的状态，让事物交出隐藏在内的实质。
梦是湖水下的玻璃或一束光，Some dreams are like glass/ or a light beneath the surface of the water. 本来朦胧的水加上相同飘忽质地的玻璃/光，梦就是一个捉摸不透的存在。朦朦胧胧，零零碎碎，深奥而优雅。
花园里，女孩在哭什么？女人为什么别过头？也许这一个场景也在梦中，做梦人以模糊的视觉（玻璃或光）透过模糊的水面看过去，只能看到剪影，并不能听清楚声音。最后一切都化作了水In the end every road leads/ to water.谁也不知道最后发生了什么，花园里只留下了梦What is left of a garden/ is the dream, 女孩的影子，和她身上的香水味。The shadow of the girl. Perfume.
也许这个场景的美，就在于观者不知道自己是谁，看不清，听不清，不知道事情的原委，渴望去探求真相，却无能为力，最后只能任由自己飘荡在水中，抓住能抓住的，放弃只能放弃的。
