Dog days are the hottest days in summer
(Tuesday)
(Dog days:the hotperiod between early July and early September; a period of inactivity)也是“加长版”——共40天,(其中7月17日“初伏”,7月27日“中伏”,8月16日“末伏”,8月25日“出伏”。)
Open-air Swimming Pool
It is barely half a century since parts of the Thames were declared ‘biologically dead’ because the river was so dirty. But its present water is much cleaner than at any time in living memory. Some entrepreneurs want to build up a £10 million open-air swimming pool in the middle of the Thames in Central London.
The lido will have changing rooms, a 130ft ramp leading from the shore to the water, a plunge pool and a children’s paddling area. At the meanwhile, a 4ft-high glass balustrade will protect swimmers from waves caused by river traffic.
Self-service Beer Concept
"I was hanging out with my friends at a Baltimore sports bar before an Orioles game," he said. "We just couldn't get another beer served to us quickly."
Even more than being annoyed, Goodman was struck by how much money the bar must be losing. Almost immediately, he came up with working on a self-service beer concept.
Within a few months, Goodman had launched PourMyBeer in Chicago. He invested $20,000 of his own funds and partnered with a U.S. manufacturer to make beer tables with two to four self-service taps.
PourMyBeer has expanded to over 200 restaurants and bars in 28 states and Canada. The concept will roll out in Chicago's O'Hare International Airport this week and in Italy and Brazil later this year.
