一切为了人民-克利夫兰艺术博物馆(中国造像)
2017年,美国克利夫兰艺术博物馆援引了杰普撒·韦德(Jeptha Wade)捐地契据中的一段原话来装点场馆的主楼立面,这段文字表明了博物馆的宗旨,即:
“永远秉承一切为了人民。”
近期,博物馆新推出的数字化开放式访问项目将韦德的使命声明带入了21世纪。
如今,克利夫兰艺术博物馆在网上向公众开放博物馆永久藏品的图片与信息,访客的线上访问不受任何限制。博物馆希望从世界各地吸引大量新的线上访客。即便无法从中获取半点好处,博物馆也会不断发布艺术作品的图片,随时随地满足任意访客的各种需求和目的。
在博物馆的61328件永久藏品中,约有30000件被认定为是公共领域的资源,其中约有三千件左右来自中国。博物馆已宣布将放弃这部分藏品的数字版权。(公共领域资源通常是指逝世至少已满120年的艺术家所创作的作品。)世界范围内的观众均可到官网上去查看下载这些文物及艺术品的高清图片,并且可用于商业用途。
博物馆馆长威廉·格里斯沃尔德(William Griswold)在一次采访中表示,这项新举措“将让数百万线上游客有机会接触到他们此前难以接近的藏品。”“访客可以在线上借用这些图片,用来做任何自己喜欢的事。”
