Work out the “work” idioms!
all work and no play
It is not healthy to work all the time, you need to relax too. 习语来自于美国谚语“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”,意思是“只会用功不玩耍,聪明孩子也变傻。”
You need to get out and have fun — you know, all work and no play.
His wife gets annoyed because he is all work and no play.
work oneself into the ground
He’ll work himself into the ground if he doesn’t take some time off.
You don’t have to work yourself into the ground — just relax and enjoy yourself.
如果你have your work cut out for you,那意思就是你有很困难的事要做:
have one’s work cut out (for someone)
You’ll have your work cut out to get there by nine o’clock.
If that report is going to be finished by tomorrow, she has her work cut out for her.
We’re training a completely new team, so we have our work cut out for us.
在工作中你是否有需要do the dirty work for someone/do someone’s dirty work 的时候呢?
do the dirty work/do one’s dirty work
Well, usually I do the dirty work and someone else gets the credit for getting it done.
I’m not going to do your dirty work next time!
The boss expects us to do his dirty work, so he can keep his good image.
咱们要work while we work, play while we play. Time to play!
Now it's your time to open your mouth and practice!
