“自己住”，live __ oneself，填 by还是 with？

昨天我在微博上发布一个问题，百来人都选错了：
“我自己住”到底用 live with myself，还是 live by myself？
大家看答案之前也选一波：
这恐怕就是英语中最难的部分—介词。
好像乍一看都是对的，但是区别很大哦！
live with myself 是一个固定搭配，表示“心安理得”、“不感到内疚”，跟“住”完全没有关系。来看两个例句：
1. Taking money from children—how can you live with yourself?
向孩子要钱？你不感到内疚吗？
2. I can’ believe he managed to live with himself after killing people.
我简直不敢相信他杀了人后还能这么心安理得。
*manage to：设法…、成功地…
其实live with oneself有个更完整的形式：live in peace with oneself，就是“平和地跟自己相处”，这样可能更好理解。
再看 live by oneself，这个短语的确表示“独自生活”、“自己住”。
比如：
1. He began to live by himself at the age of 18.
他18岁那年开始独自居住。
2. Living by oneself is a necessary step toward being independent.
自己住是迈向独立的必要一步。
