横圭竖表计白黑，
看透阴阳断是非。
半夏喜逢梅雨盛，
鸣蝉得意忘回归。

Ode to Summer Solstice

The sundial tells that here the summer solstice does come. 
So that day time becomes the longest in the year. 
It is the mould rain that waters the plum. 
Cicadas sing in the trees. Can you hear?

夏至 Summer Solstice

夏至，俗称“半夏”，太阳直射地面的位置到达一年的最北端，北半球的白昼达最长。

As seen from a geographic pole, the Sunreaches its highest altitude of the year on the summer solstice. The colloquialterm "midsummer" refers to the day on which the solstice occurs.
