How to clean and polish silverware: Aussie mum sha...
The dishwasher is easily one of the most useful appliances in the kitchen.
So a hack to make it run better, or deliver even cleaner results, is something we're definitely interested in.
Aussie mum Carolina Mccauley has shared an odd tip for sparkling silverware, and surprisingly, all you need to do is a throw a ball of aluminium foil in with your cutlery before turning on the dishwasher.
'This dishwasher hack will leave your silverware sparkling,' she captioned the video on TikTok.
Carolina first showed spoons that had been in the dishwasher that had become scratched and clearly a bit tarnished over time.

The fix is simple: roll some tin foil into a ball and place it into the cutlery holder of your dishwasher.
Wash the load as usual and the cutlery will come out sparkling like new.
It's definitely an odd tip, but the results show it does make a difference.
The video, which has been watched over 123,000 times, was flooded with comments from people confused about how and why the hack works.
'Why does my brain think it's not okay to put aluminium foil inside appliances because of the microwave,' commented one TikToker.
Another wrote, 'What the scientific magic is this?'

Among the questions wanting to know how the foil trick works, one user offered an interesting reason.
'Why it could work: there's a hack to clean tarnished silverware by boiling baking soda with alum foil and soaking,' she wrote.
The foil itself doesn't do anything to enhance the cleaning, instead it's a chemical reaction from the foil and a dishwasher tablet that does the hard work.
Aluminium foil can be used to remove rust, polish and bring back the shine of chrome, according to Dashing Maids. The pantry staple is a wonder for shining up items like chrome and silverware and can even be used to scrub oven racks to clean them too.
