春联、祭祖、团圆饭…用英文怎么说？春节习俗这样表达才地道！

春节将至，都有哪些年味十足的传统习俗？这些习俗你都会用英文说吗？

今天就和小e一起来学一学春节习俗的英文表达吧~

贴春联

Hang Spring Festival Couplets 

每逢春节，家家户户都要精选一幅大红春联贴在门的两边，颜色喜庆，寓意吉祥。

春联可以翻译为spring couplets，或者直接音译为chunlian也是没有问题的，只不过第一种译法相对于外国人来说更好理解一点。

春联是对联的一种，同样分为上联（the first line of a couplet）、下联（the second line of a couplet）以及横批（the top scroll）。

Spring Festival couplets consist of two paper scrolls, inscribed with auspicious sayings, pasted vertically on either side of the door. A shorter horizontal scroll is often pasted across the top. Like images of door gods, Spring Festival couplets were thought to protect the household from evil.

春联有上下两个卷轴，纸质，上面写着贺年的吉利字词，一般垂直贴于门的两侧。横批较短，水平贴在门的顶端。春联和门神画的作用类似，都被认为能驱邪避鬼、卫家宅、保平安。

舞龙舞狮

Perform Dragon Dance and Lion Dance

舞龙舞狮是个非常重要的中华文化遗产，每次过年的时候就一定会看到他们的踪迹。这个习俗的英文翻译就很好理解啦。

The lion dance is one of the most important traditions at Chinese New Year. It is performed to bring prosperity and good luck for the upcoming year. The lion dance is also a way to create a festive atmosphere and bring happiness.

舞狮是春节最重要的传统之一。人们通过舞狮助庆祈求来年能够发达有好运。与此同时，舞狮也是营造节日气氛、带来节日欢乐的一种方式。

给/收压岁钱

Give and Receive Red Envelopes/ Lucky Money

大概所有小孩最期待的就是领压岁钱了。那因为压岁钱是放在一个红色的“小信封袋”里，所以它的英文翻译也非常直观，就叫做red envelopes，也可以说是red packets或者lucky money。

放烟花炮竹

Set off Fireworks/Firecrackers

放炮仗与挂红灯笼、贴春联和给小孩压岁钱等习俗一起，源自年兽的传说，都是从前村民们为了保护自身安全想出来对付年兽的方法。

fire就是火，cracker在这里与酥脆的饼干无关，而是鞭炮的意思。

吃团圆饭

Enjoy/Have a Family Reunion Dinner

年三十这一天，也就是除夕（New Year’s Eve），最重要的就是和家人吃个团圆饭。

unite这个词是团结的意思，加上前缀re-，表示重新团结、联合起来，也就是团圆。

常见的年夜饭菜肴有：

看春晚

Watch the Spring Festival Gala

看春晚应该算是春节习俗中最“年轻”的一个活动了。自1983年央视举办第一届春节联欢晚会以来，春晚陪伴了中国人37个年头，并在此期间逐步演变为举国瞩目的国家盛典。如今，大年三十看春晚已然成为中国人过春节必不可少的一道精神大餐。

The CCTV Spring Festival Gala intermingles songs, dances, comic sketches, opera and folk arts. Harmony and reunion are the two perennial themes of the gala. With a cheerful atmosphere, laughter and applause permeate from start to finish. The gala usually starts at 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve and lasts about four hours. The program's TV ratings have ranked first among China's variety show programs over the past two decades.

央视春晚集歌舞、小品、戏曲和民间艺术于一体，和睦与团圆是其一贯的主题。晚会通常在除夕当晚8点开始，持续大约4个小时，全程气氛融洽欢乐，表演始终笑声和掌声接连不断。在过去的20年里，“春晚”一直保持中国综艺节目收视率排名第一位。
