William Boyce, Kay Boyce, British female painter and illustrator

Kay William Boyce was born in Sheffield. As a child, she would spend hours at a time painting on Wallpaper, the beginning of her love of art. Kay studied illustration at Wrexham College before working as a freelance illustrator. She worked as a production editor for women\'s weekly, Berra, my weekly, the Sunday Express, and women themselves.

Although Kay is proud of her work as a commercial illustrator, what she really wants is to be a painter. Kay\'s career as a painter has blossomed, her pastel and pencil drawings have quickly gained recognition, and her work, which has graced private collections for years, has become a prominent representational painter.

Her delicate use of Pastel, as well as her love of antique clothing and fabrics, makes her works have a gentle femininity, attracting men and women. Her training in ballet and modern dance (now salsa) gave her an insight into her subject and the ability to replicate it.

Over the years, Kay has been a top publishing artist for Solomon and Whitehead, making her not only a one-time best publishing artist, but a four-year shortlist. It also earned a spot on the top 10 list of living artists, ranking fourth in 2004 and eighth in 2005. Kay was an excellent painter, and she drew with Pencil and chalk her strict requirements of aestheticism. More by William Boyce
