To Be A Poker Master: Control Your Body Language
As all know, quite a lot of people worldwide are fond of playing poker. But, how to be a poker master is a very long way to go. Especially, there was a time that the related poker movies were all the rage. Even, you can catch a sight of poker training ads all over the streets.
But, whether the ads take effect or not is unknown because I haven’t made an attempt yet. Surprisingly, here come the scientific handy tips. Tip One is to keep a poker face. Just keep a straight face is not that enough. To win in poker games, you must control your face which is the expressionless gaze that gives nothing away.
Facial expression is often an emotional experience for the brain and the amygdala is highly involved in the recognition process. It reveals your psychological activities such as whether you are confident about your cards in hand. There is no denying that humans can adopt a facial expression voluntarily or involuntarily. And involuntary facial expressions are believed to be innate and genuine which follow a subcortical route in the brain. Undoubtedly, the best poker players try their best to do it.
Lately, a survey suggests that even people with the best poker faces can easily give the game away. They do so, however, not with their heads but with their hands. Here comes the Tip Two: control your hands well when playing.
A previous study shows that anxiety has a tendency to disrupt our smooth body movements. Maybe it is the exact explanation. In comparison, some researchers have studied that the players tend to hold the good cards when they are confident and moving their hands smoothly.
Even, asking the onlookers to judge the quality of a player’s cards, they can rate whether the player is confident to win the games or not. Finally, they can judge by the players’ movements and find out if their hand movements are smooth or not. Should the poker players hide their hands when playing in the future?!
What’s the point of this article, is to warn the poker players that they shouldn’t just look the opponents in the eyes directly and attentively if they try to find out whether their opponents’ cards are good or not. Please try to focus on other related parts. You can’t manage your success only by staring the eyes!!!
