Put down roots
To settle or establish one's self in a place. 
  • I'd been living in this country for a few years, but it wasn't until I had kids that I felt like I had put down roots here.
    我已经在这个国家生活了几年，但直到我有了孩子，我才觉得我真的在这里扎根了。
  • I can't leave China, and I'm rooted here.
    我不能离开中国，我已经在这里扎根了。

If you go out on a limb, you put yourself in a risky position in order to support someone or something.
