A Poem For 520

"Take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree”

Down by the Salley Gardens was written by W B Yeats, who is generally known as one of Ireland’s greatest poets and not usually associated with being a song writer.

Down by the Salley Gardens,这是诗人根据爱尔兰传统的一首老歌 Rambling Boys of Pleasure 改编的诗歌,并被音乐家 Herbert Hughes 重新进行了编曲,曲风很有爱尔兰的味道。

Down by the Salley Gardens

W. B. Yeats

Down by the salley gardens

My love and I did meet

She passed the salley gardens

With little snow-white feet

She bid me take love easy

As the leaves grow on the tree

But I being young and foolish

With her would not agree

In a field by the river

My love and I did stand

And on my leaning shoulder

She laid her snow-white hand

She bid me take life easy

As the grass grows on the weirs

But I was young and foolish

And now I'm full of tears

A Tale of Unrequited Love
