微信“头像”可不是'head picture'！

至死不渝的友情不逊于任何一份爱情！

不知道大家是不是和我一样，看到好看的头像就想给自己换，恨不得整它108个账号，各个头像不重样。

那“头像”用英语该怎么说呢？
我想大家看到这个一定会脱口而出：head picture！
但是我们把“头像”直译成' head picture '的话，歪果仁可能会以为你在说关于脑袋的特写图片。

如果你把' picture '换成' photo '的话，他们也大概能够理解你想表达什么了。
不过更加准确的表达应该是' profile photo '和' profile picture '。

下面我们再来学习几个和'profile '相关的俚语。
keep a low profile
这是一个地道的英语俚语，意思是“ 不张扬，保持低调，不引人注意 ”。
例：
Keep a low profile despite being extremely knowledgeable about his/her profession.
尽管在自己专业相关领域知识非常渊博，却仍能保持低调。
相反的，意思为“ 保持高调，炫耀 ”的就是' keep a high profile '啦。
例：
He is superstar who keeps a high profile.
他是一个高调的巨星。
接下来我们再看看几个与' picture'相关的俚语。
put sb in the picture
这个可不是“ 把某人放在照片里 ”的意思。
这是一个很地道的俚语，用作动词的意思为：向某人进行必要的指点、介绍简况，使某人了解内情。
例：
Nobody put me in the picture, and I was confused for weeks.
没人给我介绍情况，我迷糊了几个星期。
They put the police in the picture about how the accident happened.
他们告知警察关于事故是如何发生的。
out of the picture
用作形容词的意思有两种：
1. 不熟知情况的，不知情的，不知底细的
例：
I’ve been away for a few weeks so I’m rather out of the picture.
我离开了几个星期，所以不太解情况。
2. 亡故的，死去的
例：
Now that Tom is out of the picture, we needn’t concern ourselves about his objections.
