Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am very pleased to invite you all to take part in the 15th International Conference on the Biogeochemistry of Trace Elements (ICOBTE). The conference will be held during May 5th-9th 2019 in Nanjing, China.
Since the first ICOBTE held in Orlando, Florida in 1990, the ICOBTE has been a highly successful conference series and has grown to become one of the most important international meetings on the biogeochemistry of both essential and toxic elements. The general theme of the 15th ICOBTE in Nanjing is “Biogeochemistry of trace elements for improved environmental sustainability and human health”. This theme reflects the great challenges we all face in protecting our environment from contamination by toxic trace elements and in providing sufficient amounts of essential trace elements for human nutrition.
The conference will offer an excellent platform for scientists, regulators and environmental professionals working on trace elements across multiple disciplines to present the state-of-art research findings, exchange ideas, and discuss how the knowledge can be used for protecting our environment and for improving ecosystem and human health.
Nanjing, located in the Yangtze River delta, is an ancient capital of China, serving as the capital city for six dynasties during its 2,500 years history. Nanjing not only has a prominent place in Chinese history and culture, but also is one of the major research centers and higher-education hubs in modern China with particular strength in geoscience and environmental science. We feel greatly honored that the International Society of Trace Element Biogeochemistry (ISTEB) has chosen Nanjing as the venue for the 15th ICOBTE.

It is a great pleasure to encourage you to participate in the 8th Congress of European Microbiologists - FEMS2019 - which will be held 7-11 July 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.
FEMS2019 will bring together leading scientists spanning different fields of microbiology to celebrate the best of microbiology. This congress will showcase the most recent developments in microbiology to address some of the global challenges we face today, such as antimicrobial resistance, environmental pollution and the emergence of pathogenic disease.

第四届植物氮素营养国际研讨会 (The 4th ISNNP) 将于 2019 年 9 月 21-25 日在南京举办。这次三年一届的研讨会是2016 年在法国蒙彼利埃举行的第三届 ISNNP 会议上商定的。该会议具有悠久的历史，是 欧洲硝酸盐和铵盐同化研究组织 (ENAAG) 和 欧洲硝酸盐植物氮素营养国际系列同化 - 分子和遗传研究组织 (NAMGA) 发起的长期系列国际氮素会议的传统延续。ENAAG 在 Jarandilla de la Vera (西班牙，1986)、Naples (意大利，1989)、Tiberias (以色列，1992)、Darmstadt (德国，1995)、Luso (葡萄牙，1998)、Reims (法国，2001) 和 Wageningen (荷兰，2004) 举行了系列研讨会。NAMGA在 Gatersleben (DDR, 1982)、St Andrews (英国，1987)、Bombannes (法国，1990)、Tampa (美国，1997) 和 Cordoba (西班牙，2002) 举行了系列研讨会。2007 年发生了重大变化，ENAAG 和 NAMGA 共同决定在英国 Lancaster 举行研讨会 - Nitrogen2007，并在会议期间合并成立了国际植物氮素营养研究组织 (ISNNP)。因此，Nitrogen2007 研讨会是新的国际植物氮素研讨会的创始会议，旨在国际上聚集更多的从事该研究领域的研究人员，特别是来自亚洲和美洲的研究者。继 2007 年氮素会议之后，分别在日本 Inuyama (2010)、智利 Puerto Varas (2013) 和法国 Montpellier (2016) 进行了第一、第二和第三届植物氮素营养国际研讨会。
国际植物氮素营养研究组织 (ISNNP) 选择南京作为 Nitrogen2019 - 第四届植物氮素营养国际研讨会的举办地。南京位于长江三角洲，是中国的古都，在 2500 年的历史中，曾经是 10 个朝代的都城。南京不仅在中国历史文化上有着突出的地位，而且是近代中国主要的研究中心和高等教育中心之一，尤其在土壤和植物营养科学领域具有独特的优势。
近年来，无论是国际还是国内，与农业资源持续高效利用和绿色发展密切相关的植物氮素营养研究越来越受到重视。Nitrogen2019 (The 4th ISNNP) 的主要目的是回顾近三年来在植物氮素营养研究领域，包括氮素营养的生理与分子机制、氮素与生长发育、氮素高效利用新材料/品种创制等方面所取得的最新进展。Nitrogen2019 将为植物氮素营养及其相关领域的研究人员提供一个极好的学术交流和合作平台。这次会议将汇集该领域的许多世界顶尖专家，并将为年轻的研究人员提供较多的交流机会和资金。大会的口头报告将提供给受邀在氮素研究领域有突出贡献和重大研究发现的研究人员、以及从提交的会议摘要中遴选的优秀研究人员。研讨会将安排六场口头报告会议和两场墙报交流，内容涉及以下植物氮营养的 6 个主题：(1) 氮素吸收转运、(2) 氮素同化利用、(3) 氮素感应和信号网络、(4) 氮素与其他元素的相互作用、(5) 植物与微生物互作体系中的氮素营养、(6) 从细胞到田间的植物氮素利用效率。
