The wind does not give rest to the tops of the trees
and the foliage speaks
as if a brook flows above the heads of the people
The water becomes quiet in the evening
and for a moment time stands still
Again does the earth understands the heaven
At the bank of the clover river
decides the big dumb hare
what to the darkness belongs
and what still darkness will become
.

The rope
made like prisoners do out of bed sheets
bed sheets on which I have wept
I tie it around my body
like a diver’s rope
I plunge
away from the day
through it
I reappear
on the other side of the earth
There I want
to breathe freer
there I wish to invent an alphabet
of active letters

Life fell
like an iron storm on my rubble
with all its yesterdays and worn out slippers,
wit hits grubbed forests,
and life does not weigh.
It does not weigh more than that butterfly
which reposes in the light
and before dying
open its wings.

The door was open.
Manohar thought
it was one more temple.
He looked inside
wandering
which god he was going to find.
He quickly turned away
when a wide eyed calf
looked back at him.
It isn’t another temple,
he said,
it’s just a cowshed.

neither painted

伊萨卡（本周好诗）简介
十年前，一家荷兰杂志的编辑让我每周给他们提供一首有插图的好诗：本周好诗诞生了。几个月后，我的一个佛兰芒粉丝问我，为什么你不把这些诗翻译成英语和西班牙语？既然我住在西班牙， 既然我已经做了那些所有工作，每周都要从世界各地找到一首好诗？所以我把诗歌翻译成英语和西班牙语，发给我的外国朋友。他们对这个项目都非常热心。我能用意大利语翻译这些诗歌，提供给我的意大利语翻译，然后我的中文、罗马尼亚语和其它语翻译同样那样做。所以最后，本周好诗以33种语言被翻译和出版，其中一首被中国文学网站阅读了72000人次。今年年初，用库尔德语出版了一本容纳160首本周好诗的书，上个月《诗歌无国界》，一本200位诗人的270首本周好诗在罗马尼亚出版了，其中包括世界著名诗人的诗歌如安娜·阿赫玛托娃、叶胡迪·阿米亥、贝托尔特·布莱希特、费尔南多·佩索阿、埃内斯托·卡德纳尔、保罗·策兰、利奥波德·塞德尔·森戈尔、拉宾德拉纳特·泰戈尔、朱塞佩·昂加雷蒂、纳齐姆·希克梅特等世界著名诗人的诗作，也有来自阿根廷、奥地利、波斯尼亚、保加利亚、中国、智利、克罗地亚、萨尔瓦多，德国、希腊、印度、日本、马其顿、墨西哥、尼加拉瓜、秘鲁、波兰、葡萄牙、罗马尼亚、俄罗斯、斯洛伐克、西班牙、泰国、菲律宾、美国，甚至韩国、乌兹别克斯坦、台湾、巴勒斯坦甚至库尔德斯坦等国的优秀、鲜为人知的诗人。同样的书将在比利时和荷兰以荷兰语出版，以波兰语、希腊语、印地语、伊朗、波斯语、马来语和冰岛语出版书籍也在计划中。
本周好诗项目实现了政治家们迄今为止无法实现的目标：建立一座跨越民族主义、种族和宗教所有边界的人类桥梁。我们的菲律宾翻译最近写道：“我很忙，但伊萨卡（本周好诗）成为我生活的一部分。”

译者简介
周道模 教师，学诗30余年，在国内外文学报刊上发表汉语、英语和翻译作品。 出版汉语诗集2部、汉英双语诗集2部、自印汉语诗集1部。获国内诗歌奖5次，国际诗歌奖3次。
主编汉英版《2018世界诗选》。8次应邀参加世界诗人大会，3次应邀参加国际诗歌节。有诗歌被翻译成10余种外语在国外发表、传播。现为世界诗人大会终生会员，世界诗人大会中国办事处副秘书长、中国诗歌学会会员、四川省作协会员、覃子豪研究会会长、《覃子豪诗刊》主编。
Introduction to the Translator
Zhou Daomo He has studied poetry for more than 30 years and published Chinese, English and translation works in literary newspapers and periodicals at home and abroad. He published 2 Chinese poetry collections, 2 Chinese English bilingual poetry collections and 1 self printed Chinese poetry collection. He won 5 domestic poetry awards and 3 international poetry awards.
Editor in chief of 2018 Selected World Poems in Chinese and English. He was invited to attend the World Poets' Congress 8 times and the International Poetry Festival 3 times. Some of his poems have been translated into more than 10 foreign languages and published and disseminated abroad. He is now a lifelong member of the World Poets' Congress, Deputy Secretary General of the China Office of the World Poets' Congress, member of the Chinese Poetry Society, member of the Sichuan Writers' Association, President of the Qin Zihao Research Association and editor in chief of the Qin Zihao Poetry Journal.
