The experience I am going to tell you about happened during the last Qixi Festival. It is a festival that celebrates the annual meeting of the cowherd and weaver girl in Chinese myth and it falls on the seventh day of the seventh month of the Chinese calendar. It is now considered as Chinese Valentine's Day. So on that day, I had dinner with my girlfriend. To make sure both of us could be present, we decided to have a special dinner so that even if we were busy with our academic project, we would be free on that day. She picked a restaurant which has a great reputation and was not far away from our colleges. Actually, I did consider inviting her to my family home, but I abandoned this idea because cooking is an exhausting task for me and my parents, not to mention the follow-up cleaning.

Regarding what we ate, I could tell you every single dish we had. There was a bottle of wine, a beef and salmon steak sizzling on the grill and a cube made of different fruits. Of course, what was most impressive was that it was candlelit with gentle tunes playing in the background. So all in all, it was a very special evening and we had a typical western dinner on that Chinese Valentine's Day.
