《光绪元宝》是收藏界收藏的一种银币，其发行量取决于各省铸造的数量，有的存世量高，因而价值也随之下降，不过，银币二十大珍品中不乏名贵银币。
闽南银币的历史可追溯到明末清初郑成功统治时期。因为是海上丝绸之路的起点，又受西班牙、墨西哥银币广泛流通的影响，其后闽台两地都铸有以军饷一类命名的银币，但都是以军饷一类的形式铸造的。1892年(1896)，清廷批准在福建省设立一家官绅造币厂，仿铸广东、湖北两省银元。同一年十月的钱币厂奉清廷急令停办，其原因或因官绅合办，随即由福建总督边宝泉收回铸币权，一般认为这一时期有一款七钱二分银元，并有实物存世。
福建官局造的光绪元宝七钱二分银币有深模版和浅模版两种。所谓深模版，是指雕刻币模时痕深，铸出的银币纹路清晰，立体感强，触摸时富有粗糙感，反之则称浅模版。深模银币的铸造工艺优于浅模银币，两者均属试铸，数量较少，存世较少。该产品为深模版，正面文字清秀俊美，气势恢宏，龙纹纹饰深邃，铸制精良，经过百年之久，货币币面仍是银光闪闪，是非常难得的珍品。此币正面圆圈内刻有汉文和满文“光绪元宝”字样，上铸“福建官局造”五字，下刻“库平七钱”，下刻“七钱”。后背的银龙居中，外圈为英文，并刻上“7”和“2”阿拉伯数字，两旁镶小花饰。
