It was based on the ten barrels Gatlin-Gorlov machine gun, modified and improved by the Russian col. Gorlov and engineer Vladimir Stoyanovich Baranovski. It fired the same ammunition as the Berdan 2 rifle. At the beginning of the Russo-Turkish War 16 ten and six-barrels machine guns were delivered to the Bulgarian National Army. At the beginning of the Balkan War 4 six-barrels machine guns were still in service.
