Every 是家喻户晓的一个单词，它的主要使命是修饰其他的成分，指一组事物或一群人中的所有成员，意为“每一个，每个，人人”，这也是它与 each 的主要区别之一；它还用于合成其他的不定代词，最常见的就是 everyone 和 everything. Every 常用于组成其他的复合词，如 everyone，everybody 或 everything 等等，组合后的不定代词所强调的也是所有的成员；作主语时，谓语动词毫无疑问用单数，例如：Everyone cheered and clapped.人人都鼓掌欢呼。Everyone has a chance to win.每个人都有机会赢。Everyone brought their partner to the party.人人都携伴参加聚会。When we confronted him, he denied everything.我们与他当面对质时，他什么都不承认。
