I. Context of the lesson
i. About the learners
The students in Grade 6 have learnt English more than three years. In terms of cognition, their imaginative thinking is under fast development. So teachers can design activities not only by using intuitive means like pictures. They can design the activities by using the language itself, which can help them build the model of the very learnt language. Also, their attention of learning English can last longer than before. Thus, they can learn better and become more self-disciplined.
What’s more, with the level of their language growing higher and higher day by day, they can understand and learn in the new context more easily than before.
After learning English for years, they have had certain abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Also, they have grasped certain strategies for learning English. As to the dialogue, they have known the strategies of replacement, transformation and expiation and so on.
These above are the inherent characteristics of the students.
There are also many other external factors that influence the students. A good teacher always pays attention to the development of the students. They not only care for the language itself, but also the language thinking of the students. What’s more, the economic condition and the social environment affects the students deeply. If his or her family can create condition for their pupils, that’s may be helpful for the students to learn English well.
For the above reasons, when I design the class activities, I try to give the students more chances to help them use the language and pay more attention to the output of the students so as to help students acquire strategies for learning English.
ii. The learners’ start line
In the previous class, the students have learnt the expression of how to ask about other people’s hobbies. Also, they have learnt how to express the hobbies of themselves. After the previous class, they have already finished the homework of interviewing their classmates and introducing their classmates’ hobbies. They have learnt the words/expressions dance, sing, read stories, play football and do kung fu. So, dancing, singing, reading stories, playing football and doing kung fu seems to be easy for them to understand.
The topic is the same as the new lesson they will learn.
iii. Analysis of Unit 4 
This unit is the fourth one of Book 7. It contains two dialogues. The topic of this unit is “hobby”. When we talking about the hobbies, we may think of the activities the students may enjoy. The main words are those ending in “-ing” or those in the third person singular. The later is hard for the students to understand. The main sentences are “What’s your hobbies? I like…”, “What’s …’s hobbies? He /She likes…”,“ Does he/she…? Yes, he/ she does./ No, he/she doesn’t.”
After learning this unit, the students are expected to be able to introduce the hobbies both of themselves and other people by using “I like…or He/ She likes…” as well as to describe other people just like their friends, family members and so on by using the form of the verb’s third person singular. More importantly, the students’ comprehensive ability of learning English can be improved, for example, the interest in learning English, and the ability to use English in a new situation or to communicate with each other.
II. Material analysis
小学六年级英语对话部分,对话篇幅增长,语言内容开始。本对话语篇选自小学六年级(上)教材。小学生已经学习英语三年多。解读这一语篇涉及多层次的对话能力。下面笔者就从以下几方面对这个对话文本做一个解读:

【2】特别设计的书写格,绿色贴中间格最宽(3mm),第1格2.5mm,第3格2mm,让孩子专注于中间一格的规范性。黄色贴高度略微增加。这种不均匀高度,更加符合真实的书写需求。
【3】第1线和第4线为虚线,第2线和第3线为实线,让孩子明确书写的位置。
【4】左右留出页边距,避免孩子顶着页边写。
【5】行间空出间距(5mm),用于写中文意思。
【6】最下方可填写“姓名”,防止学生之间相互搞错。“日期”可以用于记录书写、听写日期,还可以方便自己整理学习历史。
【7】采用了护眼纸张:淡粉黄色,淡粉绿色。
【8】标准长方形便利贴(7.5CM*10.3CM),比正方形便利贴更方便书写英语。
