【源】
13世纪初期进入英语，直接源自古法语的descrivre；最初源自古典拉丁语的describere，意为“记录，简述”。
【音】
[dɪ'skraɪb]
【义】
describe是及物动词，主要表示“描述；形容”。如：
Words cannot describe the beauty of the scene.语言难以描述那景色之美丽。It is very difficult to describe my joy in words.我的快乐难以用语言来形容。
注意describe的名词为description。
