感恩节英语知识
2020年只剩一个多月,无论这一年过得如何,感恩陪在身边的人,感恩这一年的成长。
每年11月的第四个星期四是美国的感恩节,今年是11月26日。
它的由来与美国早期历史有着紧密联系,是最地道的美国节日,重要性不亚于圣诞节。
每年这个时候,美国人都习惯于和自己的家人、挚友欢聚一堂,共同庆祝,在这一点上很像我们的中秋节。感恩节有怎样的习俗和活动?又有哪些祝福的话?一起看一看吧。

Lead-in and Warmer
(引入与暖场活动)
感恩节是北美(美国与加拿大)的国家性节日。但是学生们对它了解有多少呢?首先在引入环节让学员具备一定的基本知识。
步骤
1. 简单用图片或者文字引出“Thanksgiving”这个节日,确定学员知道这是一个节日;
2. 将学员进行分组,可以配对或者分三到四人的小组,然后回答下列问题:
▶ When is Thanksgiving?
▶ Why do you think people celebrate Thanksgiving?
▶ What foods are associated with Thanksgiving?
3. 学员回答完以后,教师给予反馈环节,同时告知学员正确答案。
活动一:
The history of Thanksgiving celebration
该活动可以在文化层面让学员了解感恩节的历史以及起源。
步骤
1. 首先教师用图片讲解几个关键的单词:pilgrim,Mayflower以及一些专业地理名词:Plymouth,老师可以使用地图进行讲解;

Thanksgiving traditions
很多学员其实都还不清楚感恩节是一个北美的节日,以为它是一个西方世界普遍庆祝的节日。这个活动可以让大家了解感恩节的传统习俗。
步骤
1. 将学员分组,然后判断以下的描述是正确还是错误的,True or false?
▶ Many people watch tennis at Thanksgiving every year.
▶ Shops often sponsored Thanksgiving parades.
▶ Washing neighbours’ cars is the most popular way to help others in the community at Thanksgiving.
▶ The White House is given three turkeys each Thanksgiving – two are dead and one is pardoned and not cooked.
▶ The turkey that is kept is given a name chosen by the president’s family.
▶ The president announces the official date of Thanksgiving every year.
2. 接着让学员阅读以下文章,寻找正确答案:

这个活动可以把感恩节文化和其他国家的传统文化进行一个连接,学员在这个活动中会有一定critical thinking的能力提升。因为这个活动是一个information gap activity,所以可以有效地训练学员的语言沟通能力。
步骤
1. 将学生配对,然后编号,一个学生是一号,另外一个是二号;
2. 所有的一号学员阅读以下文章,了解古希腊人和古罗马人如何庆祝丰收,另外回答这几个问题:
▶ Which god did they honour? What was the name of their festival? How did they celebrate it?

感恩节的由来(故事)
感恩节的由来要一直追溯到美国历史的发端。1620年,著名的「五月花号」号船满载不堪忍受英国国内宗教迫害的清教徒102人到达美洲。1620年和1621年之交的冬天,他们遇到了难以想象的困难,处在饥寒交迫之中,冬天过后,活下来的移民只剩50来人。基于「来者是客」的信念与习俗,印第安人给这些移民送来了生活必需品,并且教导他们狩猎、捕鱼和种植玉米、南瓜等等生存方法。在印第安人的帮助下,来自欧陆的新移民逐渐习惯了在当地的生存方式。在欢庆丰收的日子,欧陆新移民邀请印第安人一同感谢上天的赐予。
