为了鼓励原创性、基础性并能够产生持久影响力的创新性研究，中国计算机学会计算机视觉专委会（CCF-CV）自2020年度开始设立了“持久影响力论文奖”。

Image filtering plays an important role in image processing and graphics. This ECCV paper presents a general-purpose image filter named guided filter, which generates the filtering output by considering the content of a guidance image. It can perform as a fast edge-preserving smoothing operator with better behavior near the edges. These make the guided filter both effective and efficient in a great variety of computer vision and computer graphics applications such as noise reduction, detail smoothing, HDR compression, image matting, haze removal. Concededly, the technologies of this paper are included in many official image/graphics processing toolboxes, e.g., Matlab2014, OpenCV3.0, Pytorch. Undoubtedly, this paper has a significant impact on the fields related to computer vision and computer graphics. Many academic researchers and commercial companies have benefited greatly from the methods presented and the results reported in this ECCV paper.In addition, this ECCV paper has received more than 5000 citations in 10 years since its publication. More remarkably, the citation number has been going up year over year, showing its lasting influence. It has been extensively cited as a seminal work in low-level vision tasks. Many industrial product such as Adobe Photoshop, Google Photo, have adopted the technology developed based on idea of guided filtering.
