光绪，清朝第十一位皇帝，北洋造光绪元宝库平七钱二分也是清军入关以来第九位皇帝，年号光绪(公万1875-1908年)。光绪皇帝即位后，先后铸行过“光绪通宝”、“光绪重宝”、“光绪元宝”。“光绪重宝”中所铸的当五、当十钱，形制较小平钱工整，面文为清秀楷书，直读，背穿左右为满文宝局名，上、下为汉文“当五”或“当十”二字。传世以户部宝泉局和工部宝源局铸造的较为常见，旧谱所列的各省局铸造的18品，恐系补铸，北洋造光绪元宝库平七钱二分今不多见。“光绪通宝”的钱文为楷书或楷兼隶、楷兼宋三体。背文满、回文记局、记年、记吉语，记批次等多种形式。
