The Village

Not till we are lost, in other words not till we have lost the world, do we begin to find ourselves, and realize where we are and the infinite extent of our relations.
非得到我们迷了路，也就是说,非得到我们失去了世界，我们才开始发现自己，才会意识到我们的处境，才会意识到我们之间关系范围之无限。
It is true, I might have resisted forcibly with more or less effect, might have run "amok" against society; but I preferred that society should run "amok" against me, it being the desperate party.
不错，我可以进行更强有力的反抗，也多少会有一些效果，可以“疯狂”地反对社会；但是我宁愿社会“疯狂”地反对我，因为绝望的一方是它。
I had no lock nor bolt but for the desk which held my papers, not even a nail to put over my latch or windows. ... I am convinced, that if all men were to live as simply as I then did, thieving and robbery would be unknown. These take place only in communities where some have got more than is sufficient while others have not enough.
除了放文件的书桌之外，我不用锁，也不用插销，我的门闩或窗户上连个钉子也没有。......我相信，如果所有的人都像我那时的生活那么简朴，就不会有偷盗和抢劫。这种事情只有在一些人拥有的东西多于他们的需要，而另一些人却没有足够的东西的社会里才会发生。
