目的状语从句：从句部分是用以补充说明主句中谓语动词发生的目的的状语从句。
目的状语从句主要的有 in order that, so that, in case, for fear等。
如：
1. 由in order that引导
We used the computer in order that we might save time.
我们使用计算机是为了节约时间。
I lent him ￡ 50 in order that he might go for a holiday.
我借给他五十英镑以便他能去度假。
In order that you may create such a picture, you have to possess certain artistic weapons.
为了画出这样一幅图画你必须具备某些艺术武器。
2. 由so that引导
Come closer so that I can see you.
走近些，以便我能看清你。
I hired a boat so that I could go fishing.
我租了一只小船以便去钓鱼。
Speak clearly so that they, may understand you.
说清楚些，以便他们能听明白。
Speak clearly so that they may understand you.
说清楚，以便让他们能明白你的意思。
Put a mark on it so that you will remember it.
在上面留个标记以便你能记住它。
Write to him at once so that he may know in time.
马上给他写信以便他及时知道。
3. 由in case引导
Be quiet in case you should wake the baby.
安静些，免得把婴儿吵醒。
Take warm clothes in case the weather is cold.
带些暖和衣服，以防天气变冷。
I shall sit up for a time, in case I am wanted.
我暂时不睡，以防有事需要我。
Take your raincoat in case it rains (should rain).
带着你的雨衣，以防下雨。
I wrote down her address in case I should forget it.
我写下了她的地址，以防万一我忘掉。
I’ve bought a chicken in case your mother should stay for lunch.
我买了一只鸡，以防万一你母亲会留下吃午饭。
4. 由for fear (that) 引导
He is working hard for fear he should fail.
他努力工作以免会失败。
He’s working hard for fear(that) he should fail.
他在努力工作唯恐他会失败。
She worried for fear that the child would be hurt.
她很忧虑，怕孩子会受伤。
Shut the window for fear (that) it may rain.
关上窗子以防下雨。
