少年说||小乔（69）：Chinese New Year Eve
Today is Chinese New Year Eve. I am so excited because tomorrow is Chinese New Year! My mom and I went to the Supermarket and we bought what we need for the Spring Festival. We bought a big "Fu (happiness)" and put it on the front door of our home. And mom bought some "Hongbao (red bags)". "Hongbao" is a red bag, in which there is some money. We call this money "Ya Sui Qian".
Firstly, I, Mingyue, Mingyang, and Bright met at Mingyue 's home. We ate foods and played together. We played games. We played tag, and something else. After the game, we went to Mingyue's room. Mingyue gave me some candy. Her father and mother gave me some fruits, cookies, bread, and water.
Next, we had dinner. My mom made chicken soup. And Bright's mother made some fish and shrimp. Mingyue and Mingyang's father and mother made many Dongbei dishes, such as "Di San Xian (three fresh vegetables)" and "Ying Tao Rou (cherry meat)", and "Suan Cai Jiaozi (dumplings with soured cabbages and meats)", which were so delicious.
Then the "Hongbao" time came. I got three "Hongbao" and 60 US dollars in all. Mom told me I can use this money to buy anything. I'm so happy!
Last, we had fun together. We told stories, played picnics, and played a fashion show. This is Mingyue's idea. I said, "This is a good idea!" Then, everybody went home.
This is a special Chinese New Year Eve for me. Happy Chinese New Year!

小乔妈妈的话：这并不是小乔的第一篇英文作文，但却是她第一次尝试用英文记录生活并发表在“小小少年说”上。我也非常鼓励她来进行这样的尝试。小乔随着妈妈来美国北卡州访学，在美国的公立小学上学已经四个多月了。她从一开始只能听懂几个单词，到现在能够听懂大部分课堂内容，还交了好几个美国小朋友，并且能顺利完成美国公立小学三年级英语听说读写（Listening，reading，speaking，and writing）的考试，进步比妈妈明显多了。这个过程对于她来说并不容易，因为作为中国激烈竞争环境下长大的孩子，除了学英语，她每天回家都要抄写唐诗、做数学计算题，避免回国以后拉下太多。她的这篇英语作文除了英文时态方面不太准确，其他句子和逻辑基本正确。希望小乔继续加油哦！
