Bat Cave museum
Bat Cave at the ROM
Delivering an immersive environment within a museum
CLIENT Royal Ontario Museum
Originally built in 1987, Canada’s Royal Ontario Museum’s most popular exhibit, the Bat Cave, was ready to be revamped. While the educational aspect of the exhibit was important, there was great interest in upping its appeal as an experiential attraction.
We looked at the revitalization project and realized it needed a realistic immersive environment that more closely resembles the Bat Cave’s real-life model, Jamaica’s St. Clair Cave. Then we reversed the sequence of the exhibit so guests would first enter a vestibule where they would learn about what they were about to experience – the real life of bats and their creepy-crawly cave-mates. The re-imagined 1,700 square foot gallery continues to thrill visitors today.
Bat Cave在ROM
