Unit 3 could you please clean your room?

2. 用could委婉地表示请求或许可。

语法讲解：1. Could you please clean your room? 记笔记，背诵

Could you please…? 请求别人做某事

这是could的一般疑问句，并非询问对方有无能力，而是向对方提出请求，有礼貌地请求允许干某事, 意思是“请你……,好吗?”。could是can的过去式，但在本句型中并不表示时间上的区别，而只有语气上的不同。could没有can那么肯定，而是较为委婉，使这种请求听起来显得更加客气，更含有尊敬的意味。如：

Could you please take out the rubbish? 能请你倒掉垃圾吗？

肯定回答: Of course. / Sure. / Certainly./Sure, I’d love to./ No problem. /With pleasure.

否定回答: Sorry, I can’t. / I’d love to ,but......

注意: (1) 在进行实际回答中，要注意人称的对应。

(2)这里Could是一种委婉、客气的礼貌用语，作肯定否定回答时，要用can, can’t来代替。
