3. go off (闹钟)发出响声
没有被动语态。
My alarm clock goes off at six in the
morning.
我的闹钟早上六点钟响铃。
4. begin [bɪˈgɪn] v.(began/bɪˈɡæn/)开
始
◆ begin begins beginning began
begun
◆同义词:start
◆ begin+n./to do/doing
=start+n./to do/doing
He began/started his work after a
while.
过了一会儿他开始工作。

began/started to read?
= What were you doing when I
began/started reading?
当我开始读书时,你在做什么?
◆ 一般情况下,
begin/start to do
=begin/start doing
下列3种情况下后接to do较好:
① 主语是sth.不是sb.时:
What were you doing when it
began to rain hard?
刚开始下打雨时,你在做什么?
② 本身是-ing形式时:
He is beginning to talk to his
mother.
他将要开始和母亲谈话了。
③ 后接动词与想法,感情有关时,如
understand, know等:
He began to understand me.
他开始理解我了。
注意:start作“动身、发动、开办”等讲时,
不可换用begin。
5. heavily [ˈhevɪli] adv. 在很大程度上;
大量地
heavy adj.→heavily adv.
◆ a heavy rain/snow
注意:形容词heavy不能换用hard。
◆ rain/snow heavily
=rain/snow hard
6. suddenly [ˈsʌdənli] adv. 突然地
◆ sudden adj.→suddenly adv.
He heard a sudden shout.
他听到一声突然而来的喊叫。
◆suddenly adv.
多修饰动词或句子,做状语。置于句
首,句尾,句中(实前be后、助后、情
后)。
Suddenly,I heard a loud noise.
突然,我听到一声巨响。
The rainstorm suddenly came.
暴风雨突然到来了。
It all happened so suddenly.这一切都发
生得那么突然。
【拓展】
suddenly 相当于all of a sudden,但
all of a sudden只修饰句子,置于句
首或句尾。
The earthquake happened all of a
sudden.
= All of a sudden the earthquake
happened.
=The earthquake happened suddenly.
= Suddenly the earthquake happened.
突然,地震发生了。
