他1900年入选英国皇家油画家协会(ROI)， 1904年入选英国皇家肖像画家协会(RP)，1923年成为英国皇家美术学院准成员(ARA)，1932年成为英国皇家美术学院院士(RA)。

He began to study at the Royal College in 1889 and exhibited at the Royal College in 1891. He won the silver medal of the Royal College in 1889 and the Lanser scholarship in 1892.

He was elected to the Royal Society of oil painters (ROI) in 1900, the Royal Society of portrait painters (RP) in 1904, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (ARA) in 1923 and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (RA) in 1932.

他的女儿后来成为一名雕塑家。他在伦敦去世，同年在美术协会举办了纪念展览。

His daughter later became a sculptor. He died in London and held a memorial exhibition at the art society in the same year.

There is a monument to him in the North Hall of St. James' church on Piccadilly street in London. Some of his works are on display at Tate, Harris, Preston, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Plymouth and the National Gallery of Canada.
