【你不可不知的英文表达】shell out

付钱可以是件很爽快的事，特别是在你有钱的时候。付钱可以是件让人肉疼的事，特别是在要付一大笔钱，或者你不情愿付，又或者你付不起的时候。

下次碰到这样的情况要付钱，学会用这个表达：

shell out

可以这么理解，“shell”是“壳”，作动词用主要含义是“去壳/皮”，要不情愿地付一大笔钱，就好像身上扒层壳/皮一样。

I know it's a lot of money, but you'll have to shell out if you want to join in.

我知道这是一大笔钱，
但你要想加入的话，就必须得花。

They said I had to shell out $200
to cancel my contract early!

他们说我得付200美元才能提前取消我的合约。

Great! It’s my girlfriend’s birthday this month.
So I’m going to shell out for a present.

太好了！我女朋友这个月生日。我得花一大笔钱买礼物了。

I really want those shoes, but I can’t really afford
