'她是恐龙”

应我的朋友Pi.David的要求，今天讲讲恐龙在英语里的意思。

恐龙，dinosaur, one of a group of reptiles that lived millions of years ago. 几百万年前居住在地球上的爬行动物，非常原始。

如今说某人是恐龙，中文的意思是她很丑，很丑除了ugly之外，我们还可以说, She has got a face that only her mother could love.她长了张只有她妈妈才不嫌弃的脸；还有我们常说的It's not your fault to be so ugly, but it's your fault to come out and frighten others，长得丑不是你的错，跑出来吓人就是你的不对了；

但说某人是恐龙在英文里指的是落伍的人，过时落后的东西，someone or something that is old-fashioned and no longer effective or suitable for modern times is always called dinosaur.

举几个例子，

1. The dinosaur became extinct before the appearance of man.

恐龙在人类出现以前就灭绝了。extinct消失，灭绝，apprearance,出 现；

2. Tyrannosaurus is a very large flesh-eating dinosaur。

霸王龙是一种非常大型的食肉恐龙。

Tyrannosaurus 霸王龙，暴龙；flesh-eating 食肉的；

3. She doesn’t know what wechat is , she is such a dinosaur!

她连微信都不知道，可真落伍啊！
