罗密欧，罗密欧，为什么你是这样的罗密欧？
初读《罗密欧与朱丽叶》，我也十四岁。跟罗密欧与朱丽叶一样的年龄，一样的躁动，脑子里充满不着边际的浪漫幻想。逃学，私奔，死亡，以它们黑暗神秘的属性，吸引着、召唤着少年们。于是同学们都羡慕罗密欧与朱丽叶，谁又不羡慕呢？
虽然人们老是对年轻、多金、漂亮的人充满偏见，但落到这对鸳鸯身上，人们的负能量消失了，谁都想如他们一样体验轰轰烈烈的爱情，那才不妄来世间走一遭呢！他们在阳台的对白，流传千古，朗朗上口：
JULIET O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a Capulet.
ROMEO [Aside] Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?
JULIET 'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? It is nor hand nor foot,
Nor arm nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O be some other name!
What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
W ithout that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for thy name, which is no part of thee,
Take all myself.
罗密欧，罗密欧，为什么你叫罗密欧？爱情关名字什么事？跟他人有何相干？不能在一起的人偏偏相遇了，偏偏一见钟情了，观众无不扼腕叹息。
这就是我对《罗密欧与朱丽叶》的最初印象。笑之，愁之，叹之，泪之。
直到长大了些后，重读原著，发现了另一个人：Rosaline。遇见朱丽叶之前，罗密欧苦苦单恋着Rosaline，到了茶饭不思，爹妈愁得以泪洗面的地步。他铤而走险，去了朱丽叶家办的宴会，也是为了能见一面Rosaline。
而这痴情，就在见到朱丽叶的瞬间，灰飞烟灭。见了朱丽叶后，罗密欧拜访了神父劳伦斯。神父问，你跟Rosaline在一起没有啊？罗密欧答道，什么Rosaline，我已经忘了那个名字。
FRIAR LAWRENCE God pardon sin! was thou with Rosaline?
ROMEO With Rosaline, my ghostly father? no;
I have forgot that name, and that name's woe.
罗密欧随即讲了他跟朱丽叶一见钟情，私定终身，并找神父证婚。神父目瞪口呆，吃惊不已：我的老天爷，你就把Rosaline忘啦？你为她流的泪里的盐都够我吃一年了，这么快就变心了！
FRIAR LAWRENCE Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here!
Is Rosaline, that thou didst love so dear,
So soon forsaken ? Young men's love then lies
Not truly i n their hearts, b u t i n their eyes.
Jesu Maria, what a deal of brine
Hath washed thy sallow cheeks for Rosaline!
How much salt water thrown away in waste,
To season love,that of it doth not taste!
The sun not yet thy sighs from heaven clears,
Thy old groans yet ringing in mine ancient ears;
Lo here upon thy cheek the stain doth sit
Of an old tear that is not washed off yet.
If e'er thou wast thyself, and these woes thine,
Thou and these woes were all for Rosaline.
And art thou changed? Pronounce this sentence then :
Women may fall, when there's no strength in men.
罗密欧只是催神父要快快帮助他们成亲。神父答应帮助罗密欧，但是劝他慢一点，智慧一点：跑得快要摔跤哟！
ROMEO O let us hence, I stand on sudden haste.
FRIAR LAWRENCE Wisely and slow,they stumble that run fast.
可是因为年轻，罗密欧自始自终不懂得这个道理。
宴会一见钟情，当晚私定终身，第二天就去让神父证婚，很快地结了婚，又马不停蹄地卷入命案，朱丽叶吃了假死的药，马上就要醒来，罗密欧却不愿意多想多等，马上殉情而死，朱丽叶看着死去的罗密欧，毫不犹豫随他而去。一切都发生地风驰电掣，现代的闪婚，跟他们比可是望尘莫及。
罗密欧曾把Rosaline比喻成美丽本尊，将她的逝去解读成美的末日：
ROMEO Well, in that hit you miss: she'll not be hit
With Cupid's arrow, she hath Dian's wit;
And in strong proof of chastity well armed,
From Love's weak childish bow she lives uncharmed.
She will not stay the siege of loving terms,
Nor bide th'encounter of assailing eyes,
Nor ope her lap to saint-seducing gold.
O, she is rich in beauty, only poor
hat when she dies, with beauty dies her store.
ROMEO She hath, and in that sparing makes huge waste;
For beauty starved with her severity
Cuts beauty off from all posterity.
She is too fair, too wise, wisely too fair,
T o merit bliss by making me despair.
She hath forsworn to love, and in that vow
Do I live dead, that live to tell it now.
不仅如此，当罗密欧的朋友给他说，这个宴会上的美人儿多的是呢！比比就知道，你的天鹅只是乌鸦罢了。罗密欧却回答到，爱情就是宗教，如果爱上一个人，眼里是容不下其他人的。她就是最美的！如果我真的看到了比她更美的，那我就是个异教徒该被烧死！我去宴会，一定目不斜视，只看自己的那片美景。
ROMEO When the devout religion of mine eye
Maintains such falsehood, then turn tears to fires;
And these who, often drowned, could never die,
Transparent heretics, be burnt for liars.
One fairer than my love ! the all-seeing sun
Ne'er saw her match since first the world begun.
ROMEO I'll go along no such sight to be shown,
But to rejoice in splendour of mine own.
出来混迟早是要还的，这脸打的……
见到朱丽叶后，罗密欧赞她的美能教火炬点燃，见她之前自己从没见过美人，见她之前自己从没爱过。
ROMEO O she doth teach the torches to burn bright!
It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night
As a rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear -
Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear:
So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows,
As yonder lady o'er her fellows shows.
The measure done, I'll watch her place of stand,
And touching hers, make blessed my rude hand.
Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight!
For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night.
所以，罗密欧是渣男吗？
《罗密欧与朱丽叶》并不是对爱情的讴歌而是对爱情的荒谬进行讽刺？
然而事情并没这么简单。莎士比亚跟别人的最大不同，在于他从不站队，从不说教。他的工作只是把事情原本呈现。所以，莎士比亚不会觉得罗密欧是渣男；勇敢的爱情也好，荒谬的爱情也好，他也从不评判。
想想也是，罗密欧对r真心吗？那还有假？哭的眼泪都有一吨，字字句句情真意切。罗密欧对朱丽叶真心吗？那还有假？撇开他的话不说，如果最开始冒着生命危险去她窗户底下只是猎奇，之后的殉情总能见对这份爱情的诚意。
罗密欧的爱情观，倒是没变过，他相信的是自己的眼睛，有着对外貌之美的渴求。现代人对美的认知是畸形的。总是说，外表不重要，心灵才是关键，殊不知眼睛对形体美的欣赏，才是攀登美之阶梯的开端。
柏拉图说，先是对单个形体美的爱，然后是爱月下世界所有美丽的外形，然后发现其实月下世界之美，只是对天上美的拙劣模仿，从而爱天堂之美。个体对美的追求与结合，乃是为了让自己的生命更美地延续。如果没有最开始眼睛对美的由衷惊叹，对美不敢正视，没有最基本的认识，又和谈提升呢？罗密欧让我想起了贾宝玉，罗密欧是懂美的，贾宝玉是懂美的。
那么，懂美的罗密欧，如果这次没死成，之后会不会看到另一个美人儿，然后变心呢？那得看他造化，会不会从朱丽叶惊为天人的美中体会到月下世界所有的美。在他描述Rosaline的话语中，我们仿佛有种错觉，她就代表了月下世界所有的美。可是罗密欧这双眼睛仍然言行不一地继续寻找了更美的外形——朱丽叶。
也许他从此就将对美的追求转移到更高境界，也许他会不断变心，一辈子在月下世界的美的外形中流连忘返，谁知道呢？
也许就是因为这个，莎翁让罗密欧与朱丽叶拥有年轻才有的鲁莽与激情，让他们爱到极致，然后让爱情的花朵在最灿烂时变成琥珀。美是一个孤立于道德的范畴，可是要是真的违背了道德，不是所有观众都会买账。
不管他是怎样的罗密欧，他是爱着美的罗密欧。
我们就姑且把《罗密欧与朱丽叶》当作美于爱的教科书来阅读吧。
