1. [2012全国I卷 · 68] Grown-ups areoften surprised by how well they remember something they learned as childrenbut have never practiced ever since. ...
One explanation is the law ofoverlearning, which can be stated as follows: Once we have learnedsomething, additional learning trials increase the length of time we willremember it.
In childhood we usually continue topractice such skills as swimming, bicycle riding, and playing baseball longafter we have learned them. We continue to listen to and remind ourselves ofwords such as “Twinkle, twinkle, little star” and childhood tales such asCinderella and Goldilocks. We not only learn but overlearn.
The multiplication tables(乘法口诀表)are an exception tothe general rule that we forget rather quickly the things that we learn inschool, because they are another of the things we overlearn in childhood.
The law of overlearning explains whycramming(突击学习)for an examination, though it may result in a passing grade, is nota satisfactory way to learn a college course. By cramming, a student may learnthe subject well enough to get by on the examination, but he is likely soon toforget almost everything he learned. A little overlearning, on the other hand,is really necessary for one’s future development.
◇The author explains thelaw of overlearning by _________.
A. presenting research findings
B. selling down general rules
C. making a comparison
D. using examples

“Compared with the late 70s,” she says,“now college students have many doors.” .... And my aunt told me that we shouldreach our goals by grasping all these opportunities.
The first door is the opportunity tostudy different subjects that interest us. My aunt was happy to studymanagement, but she could also attend lectures on ancient Chinese poetry and onShakespearean drama. As for myself, I am an English major, but I may also go tolectures on history.
The second door is the door to theoutside world. ... I have many fellow international classmates, ... As for myaunt, she is planning to get an MBA degree in the U.K.
The third door is the door to life-longlearning. ... The doors open to usalso pose(造成)challenges.... So, each door is a test of our courage, ability and judgment, but with thesupport of my teachers, parents, friends and my aunt, I believe I can meet thechallenge head on.
