1. go overboard
来自于帆船运动,意思是:说更多的话或做更多的事,超过需要的尺度

例:

You can't believe everything Janice says about Rick. She tends to go overboard when she's complaining about him.

贾尼斯说的关于里克的话不能全信。她总是抱怨过头。

2. go to bat for someone
来自于棒球领域,意思是:为某人辩护或支持某人

例:

Andy is asking for a salary increase, and I'm going to go to bat for him if the boss says no.

If the products don't sell, then we will discontinue it. If we sell them all quickly, then maybe we can find more funding and ask R&D to improve the product's quality.”

例:

another agency to win the new client. It's the fourth down today, and the company will make their decision. It's our last chance to show our creativity and ideas to help them succeed.”

例:

22. A knockout

颜值爆表,含义就是一个迷倒众生的大美女。(这个说法源自拳击,就是大家可能都听过的KO, 被击倒的意思;。注意,这个词通常只用于形容女性)

例:
