人才培养

截至2018年7月,周其林院士已经培养了70余名优秀博士和硕士,他们大多在中国国内外大学、研究机构、制药公司任职,其中2人获得国家基金委杰出青年基金资助,2人获得优秀青年科学基金资助,3人入选教育部新世纪优秀人才支持计划等
评述
周其林教授出生于南京的农村,第一次高考报的物理学,失败后,第二年选择了化学这门学科,进入大学深造。据说周其林教授对论文数据的重现性要求很高,在文章投稿前,必做重现性实验。
周教授认为优秀的学生得具备“很强的交流能力、活跃的创造能力,并且很努力”。
周院士带领团队研发的手性螺环配体,是目前非常高效的“特权配体”。他们开发的这些配体,不仅在不对称氢化反应中取得突破性成就,而且在很多类型的不对称反应中成效卓著。
周其林院士获得2018年未来科学大奖“物质科学奖”,一同获奖的还有马大为研究员、冯小明院士。获奖理由为:表彰他们在发明新催化剂和新反应方面的创造性贡献,为合成有机分子,特别是药物分子提供新途径。
