 “二十四，扫房子”

Chinese tradition dictates that homes should be clean before the start of the new year, ridding the house of the bad luck and misfortune of the past, and opening up spaces for all the new, and the good luck to enter and infuse your life. In Chinese, deep cleaning is referred to as “sao nian”, but extends beyond just cleaning to repairing or discarding broken items and decluttering the home.

中国人习惯在新年来临前把家里打扫得干干净净，将旧年的厄运与晦气从房子里彻底清除，给来年的新生活与好运气腾出空间。汉语里，这种新年大扫除被称为“扫年”。此外，扫年不仅仅指清洁房舍，还要修理废旧物品、清理杂物，让整个家焕然一新。

Your home attracts a lot of energy and having a dirty house can bring some negativity into your life. Therefore, it is essential to follow some basic “Feng Shui” during this time of year.
